CONTENT WRITING

 

I emerged from art-college a young, hungry copywriter with lustrous chestnut hair, some wooden beads, and no beer-belly yet. Back then I loved, as I still do, the challenge of cracking a brief with great writing. My early years were B2B based (awful phrase), moving onto through-the-line agencies in Manchester and eventually down to London where I worked at Claydon Heeley Jones Mason. There I worked on everything from big brand promotions, to above the line advertising and DM, before going freelance to pursue my comedy ambitions, which you can read more about here.

 
 

MORE ‘CONTENT’ THAN EVER

As video and audio content has flowered into the deeper, more entertainment focused beast that it is now, I have found myself enjoying writing content more and more, especially where genuinely funny comedy is required. That said I am still adept at good old-fashioned concepting and I write quality, engaging copy in whatever tone of voice is required. I would say becoming a screenwriter has improved my understanding of tone of voice and the ‘character’ of a brand no end.

Comedy creative is sometimes tricky to sell in, but having acted and done stand-up I can assure you that I am ‘good in the room’ whether at presentation or pitch level. Timing a line or a joke just right, setting a scene, finding a character voice, sometimes literally, these are not things every copywriter can do. So if you need to bring the funny, give me a try.
